Mosul-born novelist; survivor of multiple Iraqi prisons.

Saeed was repeatedly imprisoned under successive Iraqi regimes for his fiction. His novel Saddam City (2004) draws directly on his prison experience under the Ba'th. He has lived in Chicago since the 1990s.
