Palestinian-American novelist of the diaspora; author of Mornings in Jenin.

Born to refugees of the 1967 war and raised between Kuwait, Jordan, the United States, and an East Jerusalem orphanage, Abulhawa writes in English. Her debut novel Mornings in Jenin (2010), originally published as The Scar of David, follows four generations of a Palestinian family from the village of Ein Hod through the Nakba and into the camps; it has been translated into more than thirty languages.
